The results of medical research studies show that 7 to 34% of medical patients with an acute attack of back pain will still have severe back pain with substantial activity limitations 1 year following the onset. Several systematic reviews have found that most people (> 50%) with neck pain do not experience a complete resolution of their problem and will often report a recurrence within 1 year.
